Community development research at Letterkenny Institute of Technology

Letterkenny IT seeks to continuously develop as an academic institution of international standing and quality, which serves national, and regional educational needs. In so doing it strives to contribute to the economic, community, technological, sociological and cultural development of Ireland and in particular the North West.

The Institute is currently establishing a Community/Local Development Support Unit on campus, recently named Tuath, which has three broad objectives: Development Education; Capacity Building; and Research and Policy Development. This unit will be managed in partnership with the Community Development Unit in Donegal County Council.

Representatives from the college also serve on various community taskforce and consultation bodies within the county such as An Stratais, a two-year programme to develop a integrated development plan for Donegal.
